Sam has over 20 years of experience in the software product development industry, with extensive expertise in building automation technology solutions and software products that resulted in successful sale and mergers. He has been core member of several startup companies including eCredit.com which was sold to Internet Capital Group and Corporate Fundamentals which was eventually sold to Morningstar, Inc.
Prior to Leaflet Corporation, as a founding member and VP of Engineering at Brightleaf, Sam has led the design and development of Brightleaf’s Document Automation Platform. Before that, he has worked at Hemscott/Ipreo as Vice President, where he led the development of highly scalable, web-based data automation projects for well-known clients in the financial service sector. Before that, he held various managerial positions at Rage Frameworks and eCredit.com, where he designed and implemented complex rules-based, data driven process automation engine, credit and financing products. He has extensive experience in developing, implementing and supporting software products in diverse technologies, industries and building robust extensible connectors with leading ERP, CRM, Document Management Systems and Service Bureaus.
Sam holds a Masters in Computer Science from National Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Madras University. When he’s not automating legal documents, Sam automates other stuff too: he coaches and mentors FIRST Robotics Team; volunteers at regional and national Robotics competitions.
Vice President - Sales
Roy has spent over 20 years in the Legal Market. Before moving into sales he programmed and installed Word Processing software in Major Law Firms in both the U.S. and Canada. As Area Sales Manager with Barrister Information Systems, he managed 10 offices throughout the U.S. His General Management experience includes product management, launching new products and acquiring other companies. He has also worked for several Service Bureaus selling Imaging Services, Web Hosting, Archival Systems and Off-shore Services. His education includes a B.S. Psychology and masters work in Computer Science.
Vice President - Strategy
Senguttuvan Shanmugam or Sam as he is commonly known, has more than 15 years experience in the IT industry. His experience includes building an off-shore software development center in India for a leading remittance software company. His expertise includes project management, product development and product support. He has managed multi-million dollar remittance projects for various organizations including government and fortune 500 companies in the United States.
Sam also has expertise in setting up processes for complex systems. He has worked extensively in environments that required huge data, network and manual security. He was also instrumental in launching innovative KPO solutions. His education includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Madras University and a M.S. in Computer Science from University of New Haven.
Luke O’Brien, Esq.
Strategic Advisor - Legal
Luke is a veteran technology entrepreneur and experienced in-house counsel with a consistent record of producing innovative solutions to intractable problems. He believes deeply in the judicious application of technology to resolve process inefficiencies that separate knowledge-based service providers and their clients. Before joining Brightleaf, he founded, built, and sold technology companies in such diverse areas as SaaS-model legal process automation for the health law industry (Secure Record Services), GPS geoinformatic technology (SkyLinks, which he sold to John Deere), and mobile web directory services (Envenue, which he sold to Switchboard-Infospace).
Luke holds a B.A. in Biology from the College of the Holy Cross and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Luke serves as director for LR4J, an organization he helped found that raises millions of dollars to feed the hungry and homeless in Massachusetts’ poorest cities. Sometimes he watches his brother host late night television shows.
Jason Mendelson, Esq.
Senior Strategic Advisor
Jason is a co-founder and Managing Director for Foundry Group. He currently serves as a director to Oblong, Pie Digital and several other companies. He also sits on the boards of the National Venture Capital Association and Silicon Flatirons Entrepreneurship Board. Jason has written extensively about the venture capital and business law industries, specifically around what he calls “Law Firm 2.0” and the future of the law firm practice. Previously, Jason was Managing Director and General Counsel for Mobius Venture Capital, and, before that, practiced corporate and securities law at Cooley Godward Kronish, LLP. As an attorney, Jason consummated over $2 billion of venture capital investments, $5 billion in mergers, and acquired extensive experience in fund formation, employment law and general litigation. He began his professional career as a software engineer and consultant at Accenture.
